💪 5 Powerful Strategies to Turn Self-Doubt Into Action
Hey there my freedom seeking friend!
That knot in your stomach?
The racing thoughts?
The sudden urge to procrastinate?
Congratulations! You're about to do something amazing.
Here's what most people get wrong about self-doubt: They see it as a warning signal to stop. A red light. A sign they're not ready.
But after 14 years of building successful online businesses, I've discovered something powerful: Self-doubt isn't your enemy – it's your compass pointing toward growth.
Every time I've felt that familiar wave of 'Can I really do this?' or 'Will anyone actually care?' - it's been right before a breakthrough.
Today, I'm sharing five exercises that transformed how I view self-doubt.
These aren't just feel-good techniques – they're practical tools that turn that nervous energy into fuel for action...
1. The Comfort Zone Challenge
Sara Blakely, the founder of Spanx and self-made billionaire, shares a fascinating story about her father.
Every day at dinner, he would ask his children, "What did you fail at today?" If they couldn't think of anything, he'd actually be disappointed. Why? Because failing meant they were pushing boundaries, trying new things, stepping outside their comfort zone.
This mindset shift is powerful. Make it a habit to do something that scares you every single day.
Start small: reach out to that potential client, post that video you've been sitting on, or pitch that idea you've been keeping to yourself. The more you push your boundaries, the more resilient you become.
2. The Daily Victory Journal
I learned this from a therapist I chatted with a few years back, when I was feeling a bit crappy about myself. He set me a goal to write four things I did well at the end of each day.
They didn't have to be massive achievements – maybe I stuck to my water goals, hit 10k steps, wrote an email I’d been putting off or finishing a course I'd been postponing.
But the magic happened when it became a daily practice. (One I still do to this day).
As you search your mind for the things that went well every evening, you actually start to unconsciously look for opportunities to do more "noteworthy" things through the day just so you have something to write down.
Before you know it, you're actively creating wins instead of dwelling on doubts!
3. The Mentor Mindset Switch
When self-doubt hits, I regularly ask myself: "What would [insert someone I admire] do?"
Putting off starting that YouTube channel? What would Gary Vee do?
Avoiding that workout? What would David Goggins do? (Don’t laugh, but I’ve actually created my own GPT called ‘Goggins.’ He’s my tough love coach for life, health & business!)
The point isn't to compare yourself to these people, but to borrow their mindset temporarily. If they can do it, why not you?
4. The "But If?" Flip
This is where we turn negative thoughts into exciting possibilities.
Instead of "I'm not good enough," ask "But if I was good enough…?"
Instead of "This will never work," try "But if this did work…?"
and my personal favourite (which our daughter hates) - “I don’t know’ - ‘But if I did know…’
It’s amazing how a small flip in language can activate a different part of your brain and help you to think more positively and creatively!
5. The Micro-Win Challenge
This last exercise is my absolute favourite!
Set yourself one tiny, achievable goal each day. We're talking really small here – send that email you've been avoiding, write one paragraph of your blog post, or reach out to one potential client.
Each time you complete one of these micro-goals, you're building evidence that you can do what you set out to do. And the more evidence you build, the more momentum you create and the more you do what you set out to do.
We’re so bad at holding ourselves back by thinking we have to always take MASSIVE action. The key isn’t massive action, it’s small compounding wins which over time develop into MASSIVE change!
The Real Truth About Confidence
Confidence isn't something you're born with – it's something you build, one small action at a time.
Every successful person you admire has faced self-doubt. The difference is they've learned to work with it rather than be paralyzed by it.
So, my challenge to you this week: Pick one of these exercises (just one!) and commit to doing it for the next seven days. Notice how it shifts your perspective and builds your confidence muscle.
Remember, you don't need to eliminate self-doubt completely – you just need to build enough confidence to take that next step forward. And sometimes, that's all it takes to start creating the life you dream of.

💱Avoiding Currency Conversion Fees: Top Tips for Using Money Abroad
Travelling abroad doesn't have to mean losing money on expensive currency conversion fees. With some smart planning and the right financial tools, you can keep more of your money for what matters – enjoying your travels.
Here are the essential tips to help you save:
1. Get a Travel-Friendly Bank Card
Many banks worldwide offer cards with no foreign transaction fees. Research options in your country, as these cards can save you the typical 2-3% fee on every purchase abroad.
2. Use Local ATMs Strategically
Withdraw larger amounts less frequently to minimise ATM fees. Always select to be charged in local currency, not your home currency. This way, your home bank handles the conversion at better rates, avoiding the local bank's usually higher fees and hidden markups.
3. Avoid Airport Exchange Bureaus
They typically offer the worst rates. Wait until you're in the city centre for better deals.
4. Always Pay in Local Currency
When using cards, always choose local currency over your home currency conversion. This avoids the merchant's usually unfavourable exchange rates and hidden markups.
5. Get a Wise Account
This multi-currency account is a traveller's best friend. You can hold multiple currencies, get excellent exchange rates, and receive a debit card that automatically converts at bank rates. It's transparent – you'll always know exactly what fees you're paying (typically 0.4-0.5% on conversions), and you can receive and send money internationally at much lower costs than traditional banks.
Pro Tip: Keep a backup card in a separate location from your primary card.

🌇 G’Day From Brisbane!
Quick update on life in Brisbane this week.
We’re all settled for our short stint here. Our apartment & view is fab, my daughter is working (which is the entire reason we’re here) & I’ve discovered the perfect Starbucks to work from in the city!
Brisbane is a super happening city! There is so much going on here especially in the lead up to Christmas.
Last week I went on a free local walking tour, met a couple of semi nomads from the US who invited me to a nomad meet-up the very next day!
Dylin, Allison, Tom, Georgianna, Julie, Debbie & Sarah and Me!!!
They also gave me some great ideas on how to engage the group more with city highlights, in person meet ups and more!
I’m looking forward to turning the nomad group (almost 20k members) into a real community over the coming months & years!
In the meantime here are a few pics from around this wonderful city!
Lastly I thought I’d introduce you to some good old Aussie Humour!
If you’re based in Brisbane, I’d love to hear from you! Just hit reply and say Hi! I’m hoping to organise a meetup which I’ll post in the group in the next week or so. 😁
