Hey There Nomad!

I hope you’ve had a fab week wherever you are in the world.

We’ve been staying in a little apartment in a place called Cherng Talay in Phuket. It’s a major ex-pat & tourist area and where a lot of my friends live, so it’s been great to be able to spend time and say goodbye to some of my besties! 🤗🥲

It’s also a massive foodie place and this week I’ve eaten Thai, Indian, Mexican, Lebanese, Korean and American! (And put on a few pounds I don’t doubt).

We’re onto our next destination on Tuesday so by the time I write next week we’ll be in the UK (a touch chillier than where we are now!)

I love sharing my journey on FB. My goal isn’t to brag or ‘show off’ our lifestyle, but to share our experiences, connect with others who love to travel, and also hopefully to educate and inspire like-minded ‘older’ nomads or travellers looking for tips, strategies or recommendations.

But it’s a constant amazement to me how people are able to bring negativity to even the most positive messages on social media.

Sometimes when I’m scrolling about FB or IG, I’ll see the most innocuous (and usually very helpful) posts from great creators that have a slew of negative comments. I can’t help feel that so many people in the world must be so unhappy to major in such minutiae.

For a while it stopped me posting. ‘I’m too old for all that’ I’d say to myself. ‘I don’t need that kind of negativity.’ But more recently I decided with The Working Traveller brand & my newly revived group 50+ Nomads I simply want to ‘bring the sunshine’.

We can’t stop people being negative. Nor can we change someone’s world view by arguing or trying to prove our point. Not everyone is unhappy. And the happy ones are the ones who rarely comment!

So if you’ve held back posting for similar reasons, like me just focus on ‘bringing the sunshine’.

Who knows you might be the reason someone smiles today! 😊

💰 How Much Do You Actually Need?

Let’s debunk a myth: You don’t need a million in the bank to live your dream life.

I don’t know why people get so fixated on the holy grail of 7 figures (me included), especially these days when the definition of a successful business is one that’s doing billions not millions.

To be honest the amount of 0’s is arbitrary. Rather than focusing on a mystical number that we think is what we need to live our dream lifestyle, it’s far more sensible and realistic, to first work out what our dream lifestyle looks like and how much it actually costs.

Unless you have a serious hankering to live in a penthouse in Dubai, drive around in a Maserati, be dripping with gold and have bikini models at your beck and call, then you’ll likely be shocked to discover you could live your dream lifestyle on just $5k-$10k a month.

Plus if you work out what you actually need ahead of time, it makes it so much easier to build a lifestyle business or side hustle income to meet your goals.

Imagine knowing that to travel the world and be as free as a bird, you need exactly $7,500 a month.
