Side Hustle Highlight
What Seth Godin Would Do If He Were Starting Over Today, 28 Odd Job Apps to Make Some Extra Dosh, & 7 Faceless Video Ideas
I always enjoy an interview with Seth Godin and as usual he throws in a couple of game changing gems (listen at 19.48 minutes), but the answer Seth gives to the question posed to him at the 41 minute mark is super important in todayās noisy online world. Itās the strategy Seth would take if he were starting all over again today.
Love this post from Nick Loper at Side Hustle Nation. If youāre saving for your round the world trip and are looking for some side jobs to make an extra few hundred dollars each week, hereās a list of odd job apps to help. (Quite a few focus primarily on the US, but keep reading, there are plenty of global online opportunities also).
Lastly, if like me youāve gone off the thought of recording yourself on video as youāve gotten older, then faceless videos are the way to go! Hereās a post from Plann with 7 different faceless video ideas including examples.

Iām Scared!
I canāt believe the time has arrived. By the time I send you next weeks email I will be a fully fledged, perpetually travelling, digital nomad, with no fixed abode.
It feels like itās been a long time coming, but also that time has passed in a flash and itās suddenly Nomad Day! (Time is a weird and wonderful illusion).
On Friday our daughter headed off on her grad trip with friends, going to Singapore, then Boracay in the Philippines for a couple of weeks.
In the meantime weāve been packing up the house, donating, selling and giving away clothes and āstuffā, leaving us with just 3 suitcases (and a couple of memory boxes a friend is storing for us).
In 6 days from sending this email we will hand over Buddy to his new family š„² and head up to a hotel in Khao Lak for 10 days to start our adventure.
Not a bad start!
Itās all very exciting (tinged with sadness), but I never expected to feel scared, or probably a better word is apprehensive.
Iāve been looking forward to and planning our nomad life for so long, but now itās here Iām suddenly realising that Iāve got into quite a nice routine living here in Phuket and now Iām going to be moving massively out of my comfort zone!
Thatās ok though. The words of my friend Nikki (whoās an extreme sports lover) keep ringing in my ear;
āWe donāt get old and stop doing stuff Joā she says, āwe stop doing stuff and get oldā.
And so onwards and upwards! Onto the next great adventure.
I look forward to updating you from the pool in Khao Lak next week! šš

Keep Your Seatbelt On at All Times!
As youāre no doubt aware this past week a Singapore Airlines flight heading from London to Singapore hit an air pocket which caused such severe turbulence one passenger died and several others are in a critical condition. An interview that caught my attention was with an aviation expert who said that with the current rate of climate change, he fully expects there to be further incidences of āclear air turbulenceā. In other words turbulence pilots cannot detect in advance.
I realise that this particular incident is a one in a million event, but itās better to be safe than sorry! Iāll certainly be keeping my seatbelt on throughout all my future flights.
On a lighter note I love this story of a couple in their 60ās and 70ās who sold their house to travel the world;
Course Recommendation
Want to Leverage LinkedInās Phenomenal Organic Growth?
Iām about to start posting on LinkedIn. Iāve dabbled in the past but have never really taken the platform seriously. However, Iāve read too many great things about it in the last year or so, itās time to test it for myself!
To learn how to use it properly I invested in a course by a man whoās had phenomenal success on the platform, growing a solopreneur business to over $5million in revenue, simply by posting valuable content, building an email list and selling great courses.
And his course didnāt disappoint!
Justin Welsh's LinkedIn Content Operating System is a must-have for mastering content creation. Tailored for LinkedIn but, to be honest, relevant for any text-based platform, he offers copywriting expertise and proven content systems that anyone of any age and experience level can follow.
As a student of the course, I highly recommend it if youāre looking to craft compelling copy and elevate your content strategy.
In the meantime, please connect with me on LinkedIn and look out for my posts!
Mindset Matters
How to Be Great!
I read this in a newsletter from James Clear (Atomic Habits) and am passing it on as itās such great advice;
Sociology professor Daniel Chambliss, who spent years researching the qualities of elite swimmers, on what creates excellence:
ā
"Excellence is mundane. Superlative performance is really a confluence of dozens of small skills or activities, each one learned or stumbled upon, which have been carefully drilled into habit and then are fitted together in a synthesized whole. There is nothing extraordinary or superhuman in any one of those actions; only the fact that they are done consistently and correctly, and all together, produce excellence.
When a swimmer learns a proper flip turn in the freestyle races, she will swim the race a bit faster; then a streamlined push off from the wall, with the arms squeezed together over the head, and a little faster; then how to place the hands in the water so no air is cupped in them; then how to lift them over the water; then how to lift weights to properly build strength, and how to eat the right foods, and to wear the best suits for racing, and on and on.
Each of those tasks seems small in itself, but each allows the athlete to swim a bit faster. And having learned and consistently practiced all of them together, and many more besides, the swimmer may compete in the Olympic Games... the little things really do count."

Question to considerā¦
What small habit could you start building on consistently from today that would bring you closer to achieving your big goals?
Travel Trivia Answer
Thailand!
If you guessed Thailand's Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaew, also known as the "Temple of a Million Bottles," you'd be correct!
Located in the Sisaket province, this extraordinary temple complex features a main temple, crematorium, and several smaller shrines, all built using beer bottles. The green Heineken and brown Chang beer bottles create a stunning mosaic effect, reflecting light and creating a unique, colorful atmosphere.
The monks began collecting bottles in 1984 to reduce litter and promote recycling, and the result is an eco-friendly architectural marvel that attracts visitors from around the world.
I havenāt been to that part of Thailand as yet, but Ubon Ratchathani which is just beyond Sisaket (pronounced - See Saa Ket) is on my list, so we will be back Thailand! š
